As well as using the Graph Controls panel to manipulate the data displayed on the Analytics page, you can also interrogate the chart's data by simply clicking and dragging within the chart area.
Let's walk through some of the ways you can navigate the Analytics chart.
Bar Chart - Drilldown
Suppose you're looking at a selection of energy data and see something interesting. It's natural to want to drill into that data to find out what's happening. For example, say you generated a chart, and on one day, usage was double the other days. You'd want to check this out. Well, this is where drilldown comes into play. Click the bar on the chart that you're interested in, and the data will update to show just that bar.
Line Chart - Drilldown
The line chart drilldown works slightly differently to the bar chart drilldown but results in the same outcome. Click once on the chart to set your start point, and click a second time to set your end point. The chart will update to show the data between your two points.
Navigation Bar - Drilldown
You can also use the navigation bar to drilldown. That's the smaller chart below the main one. Click the data point on the navigation bar you're interested in, and the main chart will update to show just that bar. This can be useful because the navigation bar granularity will stay as the initial granularity. Allowing you to quickly drilldown into different months in one click.
Navigation Bar - Adjust Window
The navigation bar can be used to adjust the window of the data you're looking at. For example, if you're looking at 30 days of data but then only want to view the middle two weeks in the month.
Navigation Bar - Slide Window
After adjusting the window using the navigation bar, you can also slide the window to visualise different periods on the main chart.
