This service automatically calculates your expected energy consumption based on your historical usage patterns and highlights areas that may be of interest.
Surple uses time series analysis to run this service, and the model itself does more than just look at your historical data. The technique is more developed than this, and over time, recognises changes to your usage patterns. More recent readings have the strongest influence, but gradual changes over time are also accounted for.
As the model automatically understands seasonal and weekly cycles, it is perfect for calculating the expected energy consumption of buildings that follow a cyclic usage pattern such as offices, schools or homes.
You'll see the results of the expected consumption service on charts throughout Surple such as on the Dashboard, Analytics and Highlights pages. The expected consumption service essentially consists of a line that indicates what Surple expected your energy consumption to be at a specific time.
As you navigate Surple, you will also see different coloured bars on energy charts. These bars are designed to draw your attention to points of interest. Orange bars represent periods where your consumption was the furthest above the energy consumption that Surple expected based on your historical usage. This doesn't necessarily mean that there was an alarming usage level but can help you identify periods for further investigation.
Green bars represent periods where your consumption was the furthest below the energy consumption that Surple expected based on your historical usage. This typically identifies a period where you were efficient with your energy use.
